Have you ever wondered about thoughts, and when did you first have them? In this blog, we are going to look at the first manifestation of thought, how to control your thought, the power of thought, and the results of thought.
The first manifestation of thought begins with the importance of words-the vessels in which thought is carried. By putting thought in motion, it is reproduced to others in form of sound. For example, just like a baby starts with sounds, moves to words, then sentences, and eventually will develop complex thoughts. Thought builds up character and a steadfast mind. It also is important because upon it our wellbeing and success of our whole life depends. The thoughts we think or choose to occupy our brain with defines us in a way that cannot be matched by any label, or external thing. Thought is important because it also helps to overcome harmful suggestions. The important thing to realize is that not all thoughts can be seen through the same lens. If we do so, we lose the deeper understanding that could be gained by taking a peek through different lens.
How do we control thoughts? We control thoughts, as the Master Keys tells us, by controlling the circumstances, conditions, environment, and destiny. Wikilhow gives seven steps in his article called, “Taking Control of Your Thoughts”, which I feel thoroughly answers our question. Step one, is to stop & take a deep breath. You control a run-away train of thought by thinking, “Stop”. Take several deep breaths to collect yourself before moving on, which allows you to address your thoughts clearly with a level head. By focusing your mind on breathing for a moment, you give yourself some distance from your thought. Studies have shown that it takes 90 seconds for neurochemical triggers to fade from your brain and return you to a normal brain chemistry. By counting to 90 slowly, you will calm yourself down. Step two is to remain in the moment. Constantly thinking of past experiences or projecting into the future, which you can’t predict, is a sure way to lose control of your thoughts. Focus on the here & now—the tangible situation which you can control, and your thoughts will follow. Step three, observe your thoughts without judgment. Taking an objective look at your thoughts helps to make sense of them without spawning negative emotions. Step four, take action to address your thoughts. Make a plan to address your thoughts & worries. For example, if you can’t stop thinking about work, then make a plan to separate your work life from your home life, like OG Mandino suggests in scroll 4. Step five, put yourself in a comfortable environment. The outside world affects your inner world, so if you are in an environment where you feel uncomfortable or out of control then your thoughts will mirror those feelings. You can put on music that relaxes you, light a candle, soak in a Jacuzzi, or go to your favorite place in your mind, which are all great tools to relax and calm your thoughts. Step six, temporarily divert your thoughts with another activity. For example, go for a walk, a run, watch a movie, call a friend to take your mind off the thoughts at hand. Do something immediately so that you don’t sit around with your rogue thoughts. Step seven, talk to someone to get your thoughts out in the open. Having a fresh perspective on your thoughts can often help clear up any confusion.
The power of thought is what differentiates man from the rest of the animal kingdom. By using written thought man has been able to look back over centuries and see the stirring events by which he has come into the present. The power of thought consists in its vitality. It must have principle. The principle must be certain of the results like mathematics. Thus, the power of thought must contain principle, which is vital, contain life, which is grounded, and displaces negative thoughts. Negative thoughts by nature can not contain vitality. The vitality depends upon the feeling with which the thought is impregnated. If the thought is constructive, it will possess vitality, it will have life, it will grow, develop, and expand. It will be creative, and it will attract to itself everything necessary for its complete development.
Lastly, what are the results of thought? The results of thought need to be constructive, harmonious, and manifest good. It depends on form, quality, and vitality. If the thought has been woven with vigor, strength, courage, and determination, then the results shall possess these qualities, in order to manifest its goals. Thought must have feeling if we wish results. Thought & feeling is the irresistible combination.
As Bovee said, “The greatest events of an age are its best thoughts. It is the nature of thought to find its way into action”. Idowy Koyenikan expressed it like this, “Never underestimate the power of thought: it is the greatest path to discovery”. Thoughts are the power which control our own destiny, body, mind, and soul. It is by exercising this thought power that we take our fate out of the hands of chance and consciously make our life experiences the way we desire. Thought is the key to the door of our adventures, so go ahead and open it.
